My Story. Your Health.
Meet Dr. Rick Murphy
Chiropractic Physician | Diagnostic Care for Chronic Pain and Illness
Before entering healthcare, he served as a Naval Officer in the U.S. Submarine Force after graduating from the United States Naval Academy. That experience shaped the way he approaches patient care today: with discipline, precision, and a strong sense of responsibility for the people under his care.
Dr. Murphy later returned to Idaho Falls to build a practice focused on helping people whose health problems have not been fully explained or resolved.
His training includes advanced study in applied kinesiology and functional medicine, both of which support a diagnostic approach to chronic health conditions.
At Origin Spine and Wellness, the goal is simple: slow down, investigate carefully, and identify the factors that may be driving a patient’s symptoms.
What Care Looks Like
Care begins with a comprehensive evaluation designed to identify possible contributors affecting your symptoms.
During a typical visit you can expect:
• detailed history and examination
• applied kinesiology testing tailored to your case
• precise chiropractic adjustments guided by diagnostic findings
• clear explanations so you understand what we are doing and why

Some cases may also involve additional investigation through functional medicine testing or other supportive approaches when appropriate.
The goal is not to apply the same treatment to every patient, but to direct care toward the factors most relevant to your health.
A Personal Note
Outside the clinic, movement has always been an important part of Dr. Murphy’s life.
He holds a fifth-degree black belt in martial arts, which has provided decades of experience studying how the body moves, compensates, and adapts.
That background continues to influence the way he evaluates posture, movement, and long-term physical health.
Dr. Murphy grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School before serving a full-time mission in South Korea and later attending the U.S. Naval Academy.
Origin Spine and Wellness is his way of serving the community he grew up in.
